Annual Ice Cream Social
Let’s kick off the school year with something sweet! Join us for our annual Ice Cream Social, a casual and fun community gathering open to all Yick Wo families. It's the perfect chance to meet new friends, reconnect after summer, and enjoy a (hopefully) sunny afternoon in the park.
🍨 Ben & Jerry’s is donating the ice cream (thank you!), and we’ll have a toppings bar—just bring your sweet tooth and your family! Siblings welcome!
👉 We’re looking for topping donations (no nuts, please!) like sprinkles, chocolate chips, fruit, cookie crumbles, and more. If you can bring something, please sign up via the link below.
Hosted with love by the PTO, this event is all about building community, sharing smiles, and making memories.

Kindergarten Orientation
Welcome to the first day of kindergarten at Yick Wo Elementary!
Families will begin in the upper yard for a schoolwide welcome, followed by a kindergarten orientation for parents/guardians and classroom time for students.
First Week Schedule:
Mon–Tues (8/18–8/19): 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Wed (8/20): 9:30 AM – 2:20 PM - Early dismissal (every Wednesday)
Thurs–Fri (8/21–8/22): 9:30 AM – 3:35 PM - Regular hours

Safe Trick or Treating!
Please join us on Leavenworth street between Filbert and Lombard streets for safe, car-free, trick or treating and Halloween fun! The street will be closed and there will be light drinks and refreshments.

If your child was recently assigned to Yick Wo Elementary through the SFUSD lottery, we have one final informational tour. The tour lasts approximately one hour and includes time for Q&A. Please sign up by filling out this form.

Auction
This is Yick Wo’s annual spring fundraiser. The parent-teacher organization collects donations from parents, staff, and local businesses and sets up an online auction website. In addition, an in-person auction event is held at a local restaurant where bidding is held via a silent auction. This year’s auction theme will be the “Roaring 20s.”
