The last few years have been tough for everyone; academically, socially, emotionally, and financially. We see opportunities for growth and improvement, and ways in which we can learn from our past and develop new learning goals for our children’s futures. To ensure our school is able to provide the level of care and attention we all desire -- the type of care that has earned Yick Wo the National Blue Ribbon Award for overall academic excellence and progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups -- we need to raise money as a school community.

The PTO seeks your support in ensuring the excellent programs that draw families to Yick Wo continue. These programs are not funded by SFUSD.   Our overall goal this year is to secure $165,000 in funds for the 2023-2024 academic year. 

Won’t you please help us implement programs to promote experiential learning, support our students when they need assistance, and embrace change? 

Your tax-deductible donation will fund:

● Outdoor Education: Gardening allows students to navigate basic academic disciplines along with personal and social responsibilities. P.E. builds relationship and team skills as well as a healthy body. 

● Art Education: Art Education helps students solve complex problems creatively in addition to thinking critically about the world around us. 

● Teacher on Special Assignment:  Supplemental reading and writing support, and teacher development helps support student comprehension, communication and independent learning 

●Online/Additional Programming: Field trips,  iXL, Konstella, Mystery Doug and more: Learning in an environment outside of the classroom allows for a better understanding of San Francisco’s pluralistic cultures and communities. 

Stretch your donation further with corporate matching funds!  Last year 20% of Direct Appeal funds were generated by corporate matching funds.  If you’re not sure whether your employer will match your donation, contact your company's human resources department.  Please send any questions you have to yickwoappeal@gmail.com

Also, the school with the highest participation in the Growing up Green fundraiser will receive 20% of purchases back.
